Violence Prevention

HelpLine Violence Prevention promotes emotional health and wellness by providing primary prevention programming that addresses sexual assault and relationship violence to influence change in Delaware and Morrow counties.

Through in-school and community programming, violence prevention utilizes an evidence-based, public health approach to preventing violence that addresses risk and protective factors and fosters positive youth development. Programming promotes knowledge, pro-social attitudes, fosters inclusion and respect, and bystander intervention skills.

Violence Prevention program offerings include:

  • Empowerment Groups for elementary age students
  • Sexual Assault & Dating Violence Prevention programs for middle and high schools
  • Youth-Led Prevention Programming
  • Community and School Prevention Initiatives
  • Prevention Education in All Classrooms Environments (PEACE) Collaborative

Askable Adult Campaign

HelpLine is launching The Vermont Network’s Askable Adult Skill Building Toolkit to our community. This flexible and engaging curriculum helps adults to learn and practice the skills that will make them more “askable” for the young people in their lives.

An askable adult is defined by The Vermont Network as “[an adult] who is approachable and easy for children and youth to talk to about anything that is on their mind.”. The skill areas that are addressed in the curriculum include:

  • Building Trusting & Affirming Relationships
  • Commit to Consistent Connections
  • Commit to Caring Communication
  • Be a Curious Co-Pilot

This training is expected to be offered to parents of Delaware County high school students in spring of 2025 and will be tailored to meet the needs of our community.
