LC HL ButtonWhat can I do TODAY to prevent suicide?

1) Talk to one family member, friend, acquaintance, or neighbor who seems depressed and ask them if they ever think about suicide.
2) Donate the cost of one movie ticket to your local suicide prevention hotline in memory of Robin Williams. That $8 donation will help save a life and what better way to honor someone who has touched us all with his life. If you don’t know your local suicide prevention program, call 211 and ask.
3) Pick up the phone and call Helpline at / or the National Suicide Prevention hotline 1-800- 273-TALK if you are struggling with depression or having thoughts of suicide or know someone who is.
4) Share this post with your family and friends.

It turns our there are a lot of things you can do TODAY to help prevent suicide.

American Association of Suicidology (AAS) Official Statement on the Death of Robin Williams – August 12, 2014

Robin Williams was the consummate “funnyman” who brought joy, laughter, and pleasure to millions around the world. While we won’t dare speculate on contributors to recent events in a life that we know little about, Mr. Williams’ challenges related to substance abuse and mental illness were public knowledge. We encourage the media, who have become impassioned to report on the topic of suicide to follow the media guidelines surround suicide reporting.

We also want to encourage those who have had, or are having suicidal thoughts or crises to be aware that this is a treatable condition. Suicide, which is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, continues to impact lives and communities around the globe…CONTINUE READING – CLICK HERE
