Plan to THRIVE

2016 Annual Sexual Assault Response Network (SARN) Retreat

SARN’s 2016 Annual Retreat for Sexual Assault Survivors promotes a unique opportunity for support and healing on November 5, 2016 in Delaware County and November 19 in Crawford County.

sarn-retreat-2016HelpLine is pleased to offer two retreats this year for survivors of sexual assault or relationship abuse, one in Delaware County on November 5 and the second in Crawford County on November 19. Survivors will gather for the retreats focusing on creating a plan to THRIVE in the coming year. Each year the Sexual Assault Response Network (SARN) program of HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, hosts the retreat for any survivor to connect and continue the healing process.  SARN assists survivors at the hospital and law enforcement departments immediately following an assault, provides advocacy for survivors who may have been assaulted years ago, and connects all survivors to community resources.

Survivors of sexual assault can experience a wide range of reactions to a traumatic event. Even if the assault happened years ago, an individual may still have lingering effects that interfere with their ability to heal and grow.

The retreat offerings create a safe space to explore these issues with others who may have experienced something similar. Participants will learn to enhance their strengths through empowering activities, receive tips on self-care, and be given ways to encourage healing. This retreat provides a confidential, fun, safe, and supportive environment. The event is free to attend. All materials will be provided, as will lunch for those attending the Delaware SARN event.

sarn_nov_19_retreatPast participants have shared their experience about past events:

  • “I learned that it is NOT my fault and to stop blaming myself!”
  • “I finally feel like I am not alone.”

The Delaware SARN Retreat will take place in Delaware, Ohio from 10:00am to 3:00 pm on November 5. The Crawford County SARN Retreat will take place in Bucyrus, Ohio from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on November 19. Location and other details of events will be provided with registration. To register for the Delaware SARN Retreat call or email Nora Flanagan at 740.363.1835 ext. 105 Nflanagan@helplinedelmor.org.  To register for the Crawford County SARN Retreat, call or e-mail Penny Bennett at pbennett@helplinedelmor.org, call her at ext. 241 or visit www.helplinedelmor.org.
