——— Sexual Assault Awareness Month Proclamation ———-
Morrow County Commissioners proclaimed April, 2015, as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Morrow County, citing:
Sexual Assault Awareness Month is intended to draw attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and impacts every community member of Morrow County; sexual violence is a devastating and intolerable crime, affecting men, women, and children of all races, ages, cultures, economic situations and abilities; and sexual violence is a major social problem in homes, schools and communities across Morrow County, Ohio, resulting in countless physical, mental and other health consequences; and sexual violence seriously affects our youth, with statistics being very high, with ages of the children being assaulted are before the age of 18; and rape remains the most under reported crime in the United States.
Thus, the Morrow County Victim Witness Program, division of the Morrow County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sexual Assault Response Team, through Helpline designates the month of April as an additional opportunity to promote awareness and prevention of sexual violence; and we must work together to educate our community about sexual violence, prevention, supporting survivors and speaking out against harmful attitudes and actions.
The Morrow County SART Team is actively promoting prevention and crisis services in the community. For the Morrow County SART resource brochure and a list of local resources CLICK HERE.
