Every year thousands of people find the help they need quickly, conveniently, and free of charge because of HelpLine’s hotline. Dial 740.369.3316 in Delaware or 419.947.2520 in Morrow to reach our 24/7, confidential hotline services.
The Hotline Service provides support to persons experiencing a crisis or severe need and provides community resources to reduce or eliminate the need through a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week crisis management and information referral hotline.
Hotline staff members offer non-judgmental emotional support and problem solving around issues such as sexual assault, domestic violence, child and elder abuse or neglect, depression, suicide, grief and loss, and other mental health issues as well as help with needs around food, clothing, emergency shelter, affordable housing, utilities, and rent.
Last fall we asked consumers to share with us why they call Helpline during our “WHY CALL” Campaign – here are just a few of the responses we received:
- I call Helpline to find a short-term volunteer opportunity that is available for myself and my 3 year old to be a part of. I’ve also called to find resource numbers and 211 agencies for friends outside of Delaware and Morrow County.
- I have had a family member on a fixed income call about finding affordable dental care without dental insurance. Helpline gave him options and helped him find care that he was able to get to right away.
- I call HelpLine to find safe places to go for people who are in an emergency situation and don’t have shelter that night. They help link to valuable resources for our community members most in need!
- I call HelpLine to get support for my friend who is grieving a suicide.
“Last year we provided over 16,000 referrals from calls to 2-1-1 and our 24/7 LIVE hotline.” Says Sue Hanson, HelpLine Executive Director. “There are many reasons people call and we want the community to utilize the vast resources we have access to.”
In addition to our crisis hotline, residents can search our online database at https://helplinedelmor.org/services/directory/, that contains over 1000 community and government programs in the areas of human services, health, education, civic, and other organizations with detailed information on eligibility, contact information, requested documentation and fees. The database can also help human service professionals find out about services, obtain contact information, and better assist their clients to get what they need.
