HelpLine offers new confidential text messaging service

Crisis Text HLHelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, Inc. (HelpLine) announced today that the new confidential text messaging service is now available for 2-1-1/Information & Referral as well as crisis support.

HelpLine is pleased to offer an additional way for people to connect. If you or someone you knows is in crisis or needs support or resources/information, text “helpline” to 898211*. As with all services consumer confidentiality is of the utmost importance.

“Often times people in need of assistance don’t know where to go or who to turn to in times of difficulty and crisis”, says Tiana Purvis, HelpLine Associate Director. “The confidential text messaging service offers a convenient and fast way for people to get support and assistance that can effectively help.”

The 2-1-1/Information & Referral text service (text “helpline” to 898211*) can provide resources including: Human service agencies, food and shelter providers, child care resources, special services for seniors, volunteer opportunities, county and city information – plus more.

HL Crisis screenshotThe crisis support text service (text “helpline” to 898211*) offers non-judgmental emotional support and problem solving around issues such as: sexual assault, financial stress, domestic violence, child and elder abuse or neglect, depression, suicide, grief & loss, mental health issues.

“This new service is one more way HelpLine is connecting people in our community. We expect this service to reach those who may not be comfortable calling our hotline, have not traditionally reached out for help, or whom seek a more discreet interaction”, said Purvis. “Texting for local supports with experienced 211/I&R specialists, puts information easily and conveniently at your fingertips. We are excited to offer this new service and expand our reach in the community.”
