HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, Inc. (HelpLine) has officially launched our 24/7 confidential text messaging service for crisis support and 2-1-1/Information & Referral.
HelpLine is now just a text away. If you or someone you know is suffering, text helpline to 898211*. If local resources and information are needed text, helpline to 898211*. As with all services, consumer confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Texting is often associated with teens or young adults but is increasingly a medium for communication across all age groups. This service is available to anyone who needs to reach out in a quick and easy way.
“Since we began piloting this service in March, we have logged over 85 individual encounters with consumers and partners. This means that people have reached out to us through this texting option over 85 separate times in the last 5 months! The word is getting out and we couldn’t be happier”, says Tiana Purvis, HelpLine Associate Director.
The 2-1-1/Information & Referral text service (text helpline to 898211*) provides resources including: human service agencies, food and shelter providers, child care resources, special services for seniors, volunteer opportunities, county and city information – plus many more.
The crisis support text service (text helpline to 898211*) offers non-judgmental emotional support and problem solving around issues such as: sexual assault, financial stress, domestic violence, child and elder abuse or neglect, depression, suicide, grief/loss, and mental health issues.
“This service is a good way to reach those who may not be comfortable calling our hotline, have not traditionally reached out for help, or whom seek a more discreet interaction”, said Purvis. “HelpLine specialists are trained to listen and support the consumer’s needs and have over 3,500 community resources at their fingertips to help anyone seeking assistance.”
