Every day thousands of people find the help they need quickly, conveniently, and free of charge because of Information and Referral (I&R) services. November 16, 2014 is National Information and Referral Day. We celebrate how I&R, connects people and services together and is an integral component of the health and human services sector.
HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, Inc. (HelpLine) is the local Information and Referral hotline for people living in Delaware and Morrow Counties. Dial 2-1-1 today to be connected to free, 24-hour confidential support and thousands of local resources.
People in search of critical services such as financial assistance, food, shelter, child care, jobs, or mental health support, often do not know where to get help or become overwhelmed trying to figure out what they need. With I&R, the information is easily accessible with one phone call or website visit.
“Last year we provided almost 15,000 referrals from calls to 2-1-1 and our 24/7 LIVE hotline, over 20,000 needs were identified by callers.” Says Sue Hanson, HelpLine Executive Director. “One call connects a person instantly to a large network within HelpLine and local agencies we partner with. Our team is highly trained to not only provide referrals for the primary need of the caller, but to identify any other additional supports that would be helpful.”
Additionally, HelpLine provide an online database on our website at www.helplinedelmor.org/directory/. The database contains over 1,000 community and government programs in the areas of human services, health, education, civic, and other organizations with detailed information on eligibility, contact information, requested documentation and fees.
In addition to helping individuals and families, the database can help human service professionals find out about services, obtain contact information, and better assist their clients to get what they need.
HelpLine is a contract provider of the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board and partially funded by the Council for Older Adults. A United Way Agency, HelpLine is accredited by the American Association of Suicidology, National Alliance of Information & Referral Systems and certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
